Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-ray Player

I have been using the Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-Ray player for just over two weeks and so far I have enjoyed everything I watched on it. The truth is I have only watched four movies but they just seemed so much brighter, sharper, and even more realistic. For those who don’t know what a Blu-Ray player is yet, here is the blu ray review that we shall start from the basics: Video products have a certain bit rate they can show, for example your regular DVD player can show a maximum of ten Mbps while a Blu-Ray player can have a rate of 40Mbps, here’s the best part it has a better compression and can hold four times the amount of a DVD player.

Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-Ray player

Now I know, as well as most, that Blu-Ray players show us great quality. When you combine it with a good quality TV, you will get the best picture we have experienced so far, the question is which Blu-Ray player has that extra edge and if this Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-Ray player is what you will consider.

This Sony Blu-Ray player is not on the least expensive side hence it comes with a great name attached but, sometimes names don’t mean as much when it comes to technology. So far I can’t complain at what is attached. It comes with support to a great sound system and compatible with dts-HD. It even has a gigabyte of onboard memory so you can use various Sony features smoothly they include with their players. The Sony X-cross media bar as always is a great and easy to use menu option. Everything is very simple from browsing menus to the special features most Blu-Ray videos include.

As soon as I got the player the installation was very fast and simple. If you can setup a DVD player you won’t have any problems with this Sony Blu-Ray. Even if you are going to setup your 7.1 sound system. You can use HDMI cables and have everything ready to watch within five minutes.
There are some things I wished Sony would have added compared to other Blu-Ray players I have used. They should include a zoom option so you can get some scenes across your friends who just don’t understand and a slow-motion feature.

In conclusion I have to say that it is a Sony and the picture quality is excellent. If you are willing to throw something extra for the Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-Ray player, you will enjoy watching your favourite movies over and over again.
